Connecting to the Equipment

Connecting to the Lab equipment is easy and we provide several connection types to suit your preferences. When you connect, you will be prompted for a username and password.

For Expert Labs Pod #2 - CCIE Routing and Switching, your username will be lab2.
For Expert Labs Pod #4 - ISDN, your username will be lab4

Standard Telnet - From any computer, simply telnet to the lab terminal server using it's FQDN (lab.expert-labs.com or lab.expert-labs.com). E.g, from a unix command prompt,
[you@pc]$ telnet lab.expert-labs.com

From MS Windows, Click Here to Connect

Reverse Telnet - If you already know which device you wish to connect to, simply telnet to it's corresponding port. Reverse telnet ports start at 2001, 2002 (for R1, R2) and continue on to 2019 (SW1) and 2020 (SW2). These are standard for Free-Labs and Expert-Labs. For Expert-Labs.com, you can telnet to ports 2001-2011, and 2019-2020. Also, with reverse telnet, you can add desktop shortcuts to the individual devices for faster access. For example, To connect directly to R3 on Free-Labs.com in Linux:
[you@pc]$ telnet lab.expert-labs.com 2003 Secure Shell (SSH) - If you would like to use encryption security for your sessions, use an ssh client to connect. Most *nix distributions come with one included, and there is a great win client called Putty . The reverse telnet ports do not work with SSH.
